Transport & Import Support

From the auction yard to your door, coordinated end to end

After a vehicle is purchased, Premium Auto Bid coordinates US collection, ocean freight to the Port of Durrës, customs clearance and final in-country delivery. We organise and follow the process on your behalf; the carriers, terminals and authorities perform it. Timelines and final costs are estimates, not guarantees.

Premium Auto Bid is the trading brand of Premium Logistics SHPK, a limited liability company registered in Albania (NUIS M53004202C) with the National Business Center (QKB), with offices in Kamëz, Tirana. We assist customers in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro through the full journey of a vehicle: discovery, bidding on Copart in real time through the Copart API, purchase, and the transport and import coordination described on this page.

Premium Auto Bid is not owned by, operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Copart, Inc. Copart and the Copart logo are trademarks of Copart, Inc. Auction vehicles are sourced exclusively through Copart. Premium Auto Bid places customer bids on Copart in real time through the Copart API, once you have completed identity verification (KYC), accepted the Member Terms and have an approved deposit; there is no manual operator placing bids. Any sample inventory shown is clearly-labelled demonstration data — not real Copart lots and not biddable.

This page explains how the logistics chain works and how costs, timelines and risk are shared between you, the carriers and the customs authorities. It is informational. Our Logistics and Import Disclaimer, Member Terms and any written quotation we issue for a specific vehicle govern the actual service.

The journey, stage by stage

Once a vehicle is won and the balance is operator-confirmed, the import process moves through a predictable sequence. Each stage is performed by independent providers we instruct and monitor on your behalf.

  1. 1

    US pickup & domestic transport

We arrange collection of the vehicle from the auction yard and road transport to the departure port in the United States. Release timing is controlled by the auction source and depends on payment processing and title/document handling at origin.

  2. 2

    Ocean freight to Durrës

The vehicle is booked onto an ocean service — typically by container consolidation or roll-on/roll-off — for carriage to the destination port, for most of our customers the Port of Durrës in Albania. Sailing schedules, transhipment and vessel availability are set by the carrier.

  3. 3

    Customs clearance & documentation

On arrival, the vehicle is presented to customs with the supporting documents. We help assemble and submit paperwork, but the importer of record is you, and customs valuation, duties and taxes are assessed by the competent authority in your country.

  4. 4

    Final delivery in-country

After clearance, we coordinate inland delivery to an agreed point in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia or Montenegro, or collection from a yard. Registration, plating and any technical inspection or homologation are completed by you under your country's rules.

US collection and ocean freight

The first legs of the journey are the road move inside the United States and the sea crossing. We select and instruct the providers, pass accurate information between you and them, and keep you reasonably informed of material schedule changes of which we become aware.

What we coordinate

  • Collection of the vehicle from the auction yard once it is released by the auction source, and road transport to the assigned departure port.
  • Booking of ocean carriage to the destination port, including the choice between container consolidation and roll-on/roll-off where both are available.
  • Loading documentation and tracking references so the consignment can be followed through the voyage.
  • Communication of material changes to sailing dates or routing that the carrier notifies to us.

We are a coordinator, not the carrier. We are not the ocean line, the road haulier or the terminal operator. The physical movement, handling and carriage are performed by independent third parties who set their own schedules, terms and liabilities. Departure, transit and arrival dates are carrier-dependent and can change without notice.

We do not guarantee any pickup, departure or arrival date. Ocean transit is subject to weather, congestion, equipment shortages, blank sailings and rerouting. Delay does not by itself entitle you to cancellation, a refund of third-party charges already incurred, or compensation, except where required by mandatory law.

Customs clearance and documentation

When the vehicle reaches the destination port, it must be cleared through customs before it can be delivered and registered. We support this step by helping you prepare and present the required documents, but the legal act of importation rests with you as the importer of record, unless a signed written engagement states otherwise for a specific consignment.

Typical documentation

  • Proof of purchase and the title or equivalent ownership document issued by the auction source.
  • Bill of lading and shipping documents for the ocean leg.
  • Identity and eligibility information for the importer, and any data the destination authority requires.
  • Any certificates, translations, inspections or homologation evidence the destination authority requests.

Customs duties, value added tax (VAT), excise where applicable and other public charges are imposed on you by the authorities of your country and are payable by you. Any figure we mention for such charges is illustrative only; the binding amounts are those assessed by the competent authority, and a customs valuation can be higher than expected.

If the information you provide is inaccurate, incomplete or late, you are responsible for the resulting consequences — reassessment, fines, penalties, additional charges, storage costs, re-export, or the inability to clear or register the vehicle. We do not guarantee clearance, the duty or tax amount, or the processing time.

Final delivery and registration in-country

After the vehicle is cleared, we coordinate the last leg: inland delivery to an agreed location, or collection from a designated yard, in your country. We confirm the handover arrangements with you in advance so the vehicle is not left to accrue storage charges.

Registration, plating, technical inspection and any homologation are completed by you under the rules of your country. Requirements differ by market and change over time, so you should confirm them with the competent authorities before you commit to a purchase or transport.

Inspect the vehicle and its documents promptly on collection or delivery and note any visible damage, shortage or discrepancy at the point of handover. Photograph and record the condition, retain all documents, and report any issue immediately to the responsible carrier, terminal or insurer within their deadlines, and to us so we can help you pursue it.

What makes up the landed cost

The total you pay to put a vehicle on the road in your country is built from several components. Each is set by a different party at a different stage, which is why a single fixed figure cannot be promised in advance.

Vehicle price

The winning bid amount for the vehicle itself, plus the auction source's own buyer fees. Vehicles are sold AS-IS by third-party auction sources.

Port & terminal charges

Loading, terminal handling and port fees at origin and destination, which can rise with congestion.

Route & ocean freight

The sea carriage cost, which depends on the route, transhipment points, the form of transport and capacity at the time of booking.

Inland transport

Road transport in the United States to the departure port and inland delivery in your country after clearance.

Customs duties & taxes

Customs duty, VAT, excise where applicable and other public charges, assessed by the authorities of your country on the value they determine.

Documentation & certification

Fees for documents, translations, certificates, inspection or homologation where the destination authority requires them.

Storage & demurrage

Charges that accrue with time and congestion at yards, ports and terminals — for example demurrage and warehousing — and grow during any delay.

Currency & bank charges

Exchange rates, spreads and bank fees, since deposits and balances with us are in USD while some third-party charges are billed in EUR or the local currency.

Estimates and timelines are not guarantees

Final logistics and import costs are vehicle-specific and route-specific, and they depend on variables outside our control that can change between a quotation and the moment a service is actually performed. The same is true of timelines.

Any figures or timeframes we provide before a service is performed are illustrative estimates only. They are offered in good faith to help you plan, but they are non-binding and do not constitute a fixed price, an offer capable of acceptance as a fixed price, or a commitment that the final amount or date will not differ. The total you ultimately pay, and the time it takes, may be higher or lower — sometimes materially — because of changes in third-party charges, customs valuation, taxes, storage and exchange rates. Budget a reasonable contingency.

Actual amounts are determined by the carriers, terminals, authorities and other third parties involved, and are confirmed only when the relevant invoice, customs assessment or official charge is issued. We will use reasonable efforts to keep you informed and to help mitigate avoidable delay, but we are not liable for the acts, omissions, schedules or pricing of those third parties.

Per-country differences you must confirm locally

Import duties, taxes, eligibility criteria, emissions and age limits, inspection and homologation requirements, documentation and registration procedures differ between our markets and change over time. We coordinate import support across all four, but we do not provide tax, customs or legal advice. The rules of your specific country and your current circumstances govern your import.

  • Albania: confirm the applicable customs duty, VAT and any excise, any age or emissions restrictions, and registration and technical-inspection requirements with the Albanian customs and road authorities.
  • Kosovo: confirm customs duty, VAT, excise where relevant, any vehicle-age restrictions, and homologation and registration requirements with the Kosovo customs and registration authorities.
  • North Macedonia: confirm customs duty, VAT, environmental or excise charges, emissions and age eligibility, and homologation and registration requirements with the competent North Macedonian authorities.
  • Montenegro: confirm customs duty, VAT, excise where relevant, eligibility and emissions/age rules, and registration and inspection requirements with the competent Montenegrin authorities.

It is your responsibility to confirm the current import, tax, technical and registration requirements with the competent authorities in your own country before you commit to a purchase or transport. Country-specific information we provide is general and illustrative and may not reflect the latest rules or your particular situation. If a vehicle cannot be imported, cleared, homologated or registered, or can only be so at additional cost, that is a risk you accept.

Insurance and risk in transit

Vehicles are sold AS-IS by third-party auction sources, and risk in the vehicle generally passes to you in line with the auction source's terms and the applicable transport documents. While a vehicle is in the custody of a carrier or terminal, its handling and any loss or damage are governed by that provider's contract of carriage and the international conventions that apply to that leg.

Transit insurance is not automatically included unless we expressly confirm in writing that cover has been arranged for a specific shipment, its scope, and that the premium has been paid. Carrier liability is typically limited by contract and by international convention and may be far less than the value of the vehicle. If you want fuller protection, request and pay for appropriate marine/transit insurance before transport begins, or arrange your own cover. We can help arrange cover where available, but we do not act as your insurer.

Damage and loss claims lie against the responsible carrier, terminal or insurer under their contracts and the applicable conventions. We will provide reasonable assistance in documenting and presenting a claim, but we do not underwrite the risk and do not guarantee recovery or its amount. Acting quickly and observing the providers' deadlines is essential, as missing them can extinguish a claim.

How payments work

Deposits and balances handled by Premium Auto Bid are denominated in USD: a standard deposit of $750, or 10% for vehicles valued over $7,500. Logistics, customs and public charges may be invoiced or assessed in other currencies — including EUR or the destination-country currency — by the relevant providers and authorities, and the conversion, spread and any bank charges form part of your cost.

All inbound payments are operator-confirmed. We accept bank transfer in USD or EUR, and cash in ALL at our Tirana office. We do not use third-party card processors. You upload proof of payment and our operator verifies it independently against a bank statement or cash receipt before the related step proceeds.

Identity verification (KYC) and acceptance of the Member Terms are required before any bidding. The transport and import coordination described here supplements those requirements; it does not replace them.

Frequently asked questions

Which port do vehicles usually arrive at?

For most of our customers, vehicles arrive at the Port of Durrës in Albania and are cleared and delivered onward from there. The exact routing and destination port depend on the carrier's schedule, the origin yard and your delivery location, and are confirmed for each shipment rather than promised in advance.

Can you give me a fixed all-in price before I buy?

No. We can provide an illustrative estimate of the main cost components to help you plan, but it is non-binding. The vehicle price, freight, customs duties and taxes, storage and exchange rates are set by different parties at different stages, and the binding amounts are only confirmed when each invoice or customs assessment is issued.

Who pays the customs duties and taxes?

You do. Customs duty, VAT, excise where applicable and other public charges are imposed on you as the importer by the authorities of your country and are payable by you. Any figure we mention for these charges is illustrative; the binding amount is the one the competent authority assesses.

Is the vehicle insured during shipping?

Not automatically. Transit insurance applies only if we confirm in writing that cover has been arranged for your shipment, its scope and that the premium is paid. Carrier liability is usually limited and can be far less than the vehicle's value, so if you want fuller protection you should request and pay for appropriate transit insurance before transport begins.

How long does the whole process take?

It varies. Auction-side release, ocean transit, customs processing and inland delivery each have their own timing, controlled by carriers and authorities. Any timeframe we give is an estimate based on normal conditions and can change without notice; delay does not by itself entitle you to compensation, except where mandatory law requires it.

Do you import vehicles from sources other than Copart?

No. Auction vehicles are sourced exclusively through Copart. We place customer bids on Copart in real time through the Copart API, but we are not owned by, endorsed by or affiliated with Copart, Inc.; Copart and the Copart logo are trademarks of Copart, Inc. Any sample inventory shown is clearly-labelled demonstration data and is not biddable.
